Guide vs. Expert

Guide vs. Expert:

Guide- I have a map and a framework to work within but the main ingredient is you and how it feels to you.

Expert- I know what you need based on my knowledge. I will tell you how you should feel and how a movement should feel. How you got inured and how to prevent future injuries.

Guide- your body knows exactly what it needs to heal and to move well and perform. Let’s lean into that.

Expert- your body is stuck, dumb, weak, tight, dysfunctional, and cheats too much. Let’s use force to put it in the correct positions.

I’m all for learning and being an expert in anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, etc. I fucking love to learn!!

However, I am very careful to acknowledge what I have learned is not anywhere close to the innate intelligence that is contained within just 1 cell of our body.

Also, what I know has nothing to do with the the lived experience of my clients body, brain, heart, pain, injury, trauma.

As subject matter experts of human anatomy and physiology we forgot that we were PRACTICING medicine.

After years of being told what to feel, how to move, and how injuries and pain work, it’s time to let our athletes’ and clients’ body lead the way.

It is a beautiful thing to see my athletes NOT need me in order to feel better and move better in their body. That is my definition of success. To teach them so much, that they need me occasionally, not 3-4x per week.

This is what I teach inside the REVitalize Mentorship. To become so good at listening to your clients body and taping into the body’s healing capacities and integrated systems that we remove ourselves from the equation.

If you are ready to be a really smart guide (deep diving into the anatomy and whole body movement science) and put aside your ego’s need to be the expert, the 5th round of the Mentorship starts July 17th and space is limited!
